Glebe Cottage is a family run tea room and coffee house, and now licensed, set in the scenic and tranquil setting of the North Yorkshire moors, that is open most of the year.

Located in Kildale, Glebe Cottage has become a scenic resting place for the adventurous undertaking all, or sections, of the 109 miles of the Cleveland Way that passes right outside, but also other keen walkers, cyclists and visitors to the area, who like nothing better than a cup of tea or a glass of wine and light snack or lunch whilst taking in the local scenery.

Inside Glebe Cottage the white sandstone walls are immediately striking and add an air of calm to the already ambient atmosphere. Once a cow byre and a wash-room, it was transformed to the tea room and coffee house it is today over twenty years ago

Not only is Glebe Cottage a wonderful sight for weary legs of walkers, the sights of the surrounding countryside attracts visitors from all over the country and the world. The countryside is stunning, and Glebe Cottage is right in the thick of it. There are some fetching and striking views as you can see, for example, the waterfall only fifteen minutes walk from Glebe Cottage. Or if you prefer, there is a circular route that passes the waterfall that takes about an hour and a half. There is also the very pretty St. Cuthberts Church in Kildale and Captain Cook’s monument is in very close proximity, (we are one of the closest café's to the monument) as well as numerous other scenic walks including the Cleveland Way and a route by Baysdale Abbey. (Check out the walks link here). If you’re walking the Cleveland Way, Kildale can offer accomodation in the form of Oak Tree Farm, Percy Rigg and the Camping Barn.

We (Colin and Heather) would like to invite you to Glebe Cottage and sample the picturesque and laid back lifestyle that we enjoy. We can offer a variety of teas; Earl Grey, Yorkshire and herbal; and coffees from all over the world, including Italian, Kenyan, Costa Rican, espresso and cappuccino. Wines by the glass / bottle and speciality bottled ales such as San Miguel, Grolsch, Black Sheep, Jennings etc and spirits. Enjoy a tipple from Ouzo and water to a refreshing G&T in glorious surroundings, whilst indulging with one of our, now famous, home made scones served with jam and freshly whipped cream. We also pride ourselves on our almost as famous home-made cakes home-made soups, light snacks, lunches and sandwiches made with fresh white or brown bread.

We also offer daily / weekly specialities for you to enjoy and provide you with something a little different.

On those gorgeous hot summer days you are not expected to stay indoors, Glebe Cottage has a patio area which we are to develop for your pleasure, so whilst enjoying your afternoon tea, coffee, lunch, wine or sandwich take in the calming scenery.
